The uncomfortable truth about SEO is that no other Recruitment Website vendor wants to tell you, so they don't.

The uncomfortable truth about SEO is that no other Recruitment Website vendor wants to tell you, so they don't.

SEO comes in 4 parts:

On-page SEO, Off-Page SEO, Technical SEO & Social Media Causation SEO. Most recruitment website vendors will tell you their websites have SEO; by the nature of SEO, websites can only provide Technical SEO, so there are three parts of what is SEO, not your website (On-page SEO is about content, Off-Page SEO is about links, and Social Media Causation is about getting repeat traffic and, in some cases, links).

So let's look at a job search for Sales Jobs in the top 10 results is the following sites for me; results will vary on your Google settings for locations etc:

  10. You will need extensive Off-page SEO and lots of sales jobs.

Technical SEO - There is not a website made in the last ten years that is not Technical SEO compliant. So you can mostly relax on this one. The odd SEO hack may scare you with some SEO myths about page load and server speed, but most recruitment website vendors use high-grade web servers. Page speed will more likely be destroyed by the poor use of heavy-weight images by your marking team than there will be a technical default in how the page is made.

On-page SEO - You can put sales jobs content on your website until the end of time, and you will not break into these rankings, so copy, and On-Page SEO won't work. Sure, it has to be there, but being there won't get you the desired rankings to beat the aforesaid.

Social Media Causation SEO - Tools like Paiger have revolutionised the automation of content for your social media channels, and from that content users visit flow to your website. If the only investment you can make in SEO is under £250 per month, buy Paiger.

Off-Page SEO - This is all about building the trust and authority of your website, and that means links. Link Building can cost from £500 to £5000 per month, and there is a minefield of penalties you must navigate through to get links that will promote your site, not get it banned.

You need genuine experts here, and there are a limited few who can provide links that won't get you banned. You guessed it, they charge a premium for their services, so for the most competitive recruitment terms, you will be looking at £2500 to £5000 per month, not £500.
